WALKER, RUNNER
You think maybe Notre Dame is committed to the run this afternoon?
Darius Walker had as many rushing attempts in the first quarter as he did in either of the last two games. Walker gained 58 yards in the first quarter, more than he has in any of ND's last three games. And he equaled his season rushing touchdown total (1) with his 14-yarder.
With 8:50 to go in the first half, he's 21 yards short of equaling his season-high (99 yards, at Georgia Tech).
FOREIGN OBJECTS
On Purdue's second drive they were called for a false start. What may have caused it was a clear plastic bag blowing north-to-south that went right through center Robbie Powell's wickets and over the football just as Powell was about to snap it. Powell may have had to delay a moment to snap the ball.
Later in the first quarter someone from the student section threw a football onto the field at the start of a play, but the referees did not blow the whistle.
HEy, it's free info. I'll try to find something more provocative in the next entry.
WALKER UPDATE
With 2:52 left until the half, Walker gains 5 yards on first down to surpass his previous season-best of 99 yards at Georgia Tech. He now has 100 yards.
