AS THE CROW DYES
Everlasting blogstopper Greg Auman , a.k.a. "GA", reminds me that Sheryl Crow is doing hair-dye commercials for Revlon. Why hasn't any marketing genius at Revlon come up with an entire line of rock-and-roll colors, entitled, fittingly (thanks, Greg): "Only The Good Dye Young", or "Color My World"?
A sampling of the colors we'd like to see:
Blonde on Not-Blonde
Little Red Brunette
Pink
Paint It Black
Brown-Dyed Girl (Thanks, Matt)
Orange Crush
Back In Black
Salt-n-Pepa
Ruby Tuesday
Simply Red
Honestly, Revlon, do we have to do your jobs for you?
BOP BOP BOP, BOP BOP, BOP BOP BOP/THIS IS...
If you didn't catch the premiere of the Discovery Channel's most excellent 11-part series, Planet Earth last night, I can only hope that you'll catch the next few episodes next Sunday night (and the DC would be wise to just show all eleven hours on a continuous loop until "Shark Week" returns).
Anyway, the series is a reminder of just how magnificent the planet is when you step away from the Home Depot/Best Buy/PetSmart/Walmart/SuperTarget/Office Max/Chipotle disturbia that continues to encroach upon it. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I'm an unabashed animal lover, which is not to be confused with a DanaBashed animal lover (an animal lover who also enjoys attending White House briefings), and to be completely blunt, on the list of species I hope never goes extinct, man is nowhere near the top.
Don't take that personally. We're all going to die anyway.
I guess what I'm saying is that when you watch "Planet Earth" (whose only misstep is failing to secure the eponymous Duran Duran song as its opening theme music--it may be the band's least cheesy tune), you have to marvel at the beauty and the ingenuity of nature. I don't see any sea turtles threatening my existence. Why should I be threatening theirs?
Finally, one more reason to love the Discovery Channel is because if you put the first two syllables of "Discovery" behind the last two, you get "Very Disco", and who doesn't love that?
