Been So Busy I Misremembered To Write
Last week was crazy. And I blogged about it. All right here. Then as I went to click "Publish" my fingers pulled some teret syndrome move and erased the whole thing. There before me was a blank screen. "Fabulous." I thought to myself.
So finally I've had a moment to sit down... and yet I can't keep away from the TV. My eyes keep darting. My body leans closer and closer to hear the voices. Roger Clemens vs. Brian McNamee. This is the stuff you can't look away from. It's the accident on the highway. You want to drive by and get back to what you need to do that day and yet... it slows you down. You just have to see what happened, who was there, have they cleaned up, what part of this horrific scene am I going to catch?
What part of this ridiculous yet intoxicating mess will be unveiled today.
Thoughts so far:
Andy Pettite is in the worst spot out everyone. And he's the nicest one out of the entire report.
Is it actually possible to not recall so many conversations? According to Roger, either he has a very selective memory OR the guy needs to be checked for Alzheimers.
McNamee's hair is __________________.
If you were Roger, sitting that close to McNamee, how long before you jump over the middle man and punch him?
Who'd of thought Roger's wife would be so integral to the line of questioning. While we are on this point, I for one don't agree with her being brought into this matter in any way. Prove your case against the man on the stand. Don't use innocent people guilty of nothing to prove someone else did it. Cheap move.
By Clemens account, Andy Pettite misremembered and misheard quite often when it came to speaking with his buddy Clemens.
If only Congress cared this much about the more important issues, imagine what would get done.
Misremembered is now a new word in my vocabulary.
I don't think Roger or his lawyers had any idea Pettite would come out with the information he did. It made me uncomfortable to watch how uncomfortable the pitcher became as each statement was read. Did Clemens lawyers not go over this?? Was there no better game plan then: "Andy misheard. He misremembered."
My brothers thoughts on the Jose Canseco picnic: "Who the hell knows when Canseco lies and doesn't lie. That's a joke they would bring him up." Good point Boo.
And later Boo on Clemens: "He is misscrewed."
Best question so far:
Virginia Foxx US Rep (R-NC)
"Mr. McNamee are you planning to make money? Are you writing a book?"
"No."
"We'll see."
Elijah E. Cummings US Rep (D-MD)
"If I had to pick who I believe between you two, I'd take Pettite." I like this Cummings guy.
Do I think he took steroids? Here's the thing: I don't want to think he did. Which is a problem. It's human nature to want to root for or against someone. It also hinders how well your ear can accept something in an unbiased way.
Maybe Clemens didn't do it. Maybe he did. Maybe he only took them in the same manner as Pettite, just a few times. Maybe he doesn't want to see his whole career flushed down the Spears toilet over less then five shots. Maybe he juiced his way through all 7 Cy Young Awards.
After today, I'm not sure. Are you?
