McCarthy On Dealing With Favre Drama
GREEN BAY, Wis. - After Saturday's 150-minute practice, I got a few minutes with Packers head coach Mike McCarthy.
The people in charge are truly walking on eggshells right now. With L'Affaire Favre nearing some kind of conclusion, they don't want to say anything that will derail an outcome they desire. Of course, they can say all the right things and still have Favre make life miserable for them which it appears he will by coming to Green Bay today.
Anyway, McCarthy did say this to me about the Favre situation: "It's been truly a challenge. Like anything in our business there is a personal side to it because I do have a relationship with Brett Favre. (Dealing with it) is just about putting priorites in order. It's about putting the chain of command in order. When you hit times like this and reflect back (you realize) the NFL is bigger than everybody. This situation is bigger than everybody. It's about the National Football League, then it's about the Green Bay Packers and finally it's about the individuals. I think that’s very important. And when that gets out of balance, problems occur."

About this blog
Drilling deeply into the mantle layer of America's Passion, NBCSports.com's Tom Curran offers up quick hits and insights on all things NFL.
How can this even be considered a dilema. The one complete and total truth in this situation is you go with the winner until the winner cant go.I get tired of my rat race and want to take time away but that does not mean I want to never work again.
Look coming off a disapointing loss is a sure fire way to shoot off how you feel at that exact moment, and for a player to sit back in retrospect and realize he made a decision based on his emotions of the moment,is not the type of decision you plan a future around as a franchise.
For the Pack to not go with Favre no matter the decision is showing biased emotion to stick with an upserd plan based on the front office emotion, huh ironic to say the least
but i still say what does any of this have to do with the Raiders
The problem is that Favre has always thought he was bigger than the team and the NFL.
I predict that Favre wins the starting job, acts like the old Favre with numerous interceptions and bad decisions, and the coach pulls him in the middle of a series as payback!
Mr. Curran
You've done it again for the second day in a row. You may feel good for blasting Favre but the Packers mishandled this situation from the get-go. And it's curious that you never bring that to light in your articles - or just maybe you're not supposed to.
One more thing - check the spelling of "here".
Plenty of people up hear in the Land of Lombardi and Lambeau will swallow whatever No. 4 sees fit to do.
How about you start reporting on NASCAR?
David Watkins
Mr. Curran must be employed by the Packers on the side. Thompson mishandled this situation from the beginning and should be fired.
Mr. Curran
I can't believe you are a writer. You are sorely overlooking this situation, and whatever you have against favre is making your articles suffer. How about some non biased reporting. Intstead of insulting a legend why don't you go accomplish something yourself
what a dumb thing to write. this is brett favre. he kept green bay on the map for years and the job is his. maybe rodgers will turn out to be steve young but i sort of doubt it. the egos of the gm and maybe the coach are the ones that are out of line. san diego would have won a super bowl already had the gm not been such a horse's ass and forced bress out. no one cares about thompson, brett is the show. the whole country loves him and wants to see him play.
Favre is a talent that is fun to watch but he has always gagged in big games. 1997 Super Bowl would have run him out of town if Pack didn't win the prior year.NFC Championship last year to name as well. The one ring he has was thanks to Desmond Howard; Reggie White blowing up Max Lane 4 times in a row and the Tuna deciding he couldn't wait a week to do his own grocery shopping.
A real offense in this day and age can't afford a guy winging it in O.T.. That pass would have been horrific if it were a rookie under center but, for a 'Legend" to melt down like that should have taken the cheddar out of even the most loyal Packer fan's eyes
Has anyone ever had this type of situation in their own life. You have too much of each other and decide to move forward with a plan of seperation and end up reconsidering in a few months only to reconcile with that significant other and find out the hateful slurs and bad taste cant be forgotten or taken back.So the only logical move is onto another relationship with someone new.I applaud both sides for trying to reconcile, but now we move forward and let destiny take its course.Nothing unusual here.
So as we move on to Mr.Curran, who acts more like the best friend of the girl who was left at the altar, than an unbiased reporter of facts and supposed rumours.I feel betrayed by the lack of bi-partisan(even keeled, non bias,etc.etc..)depiction of facts and storylines.
