CUTLER THINKS HE'S STILL ON THE BLOCK

Despite an effort by the team to explain that it wasn't and isn't trying to trade him, quarterback Jay Cutler considers himself on the block.

"My understanding at this point is they're trying to trade me," Cutler told Mike Klis of the Denver Post.  "We'll see where I end up at.  I liked it here, I liked playing with these guys but obviously they're not going to let me have that opportunity."

Past tense.  I liked it here.

And there's more.

"I'm upset," Cutler said.  "I mean I'm really shocked at this point.  I could see why they want [Matt] Cassel.  I don't know if they think I can't run the system or I don't have the skills for it.  I just don't get it.  Or if they don't think they can sign me with my next contract.  I just don't know what it is.  I've heard I'm still on the trading block."

Coach Josh McDaniels questions the accuracy of Cutler's sources.

"We don't want to trade Jay," McDaniels told Klis.  "We never did.  He's our quarterback.  We're excited about this season.  And excited about what we're doing here in free agency to improve our team."

But, really, what else could McDaniels say?  If they can't trade Cutler, they need to move forward.

And Cutler seems to be willing to give it a try.

"Anything can be mended," he said.  "I'll always play with the guys we've got.  I love playing for those guys.  Obviously, Josh and I's relationship has taken a few steps backward.  I don't play for the coaches anyway, I play for teammates.  As long as we keep the guys we've got I'll go out there and play.  I love those guys."

And Cutler offered a warning regarding the potential reaction of his teammates to a trade.

"I know they love playing for me and I love playing for them," Cutler said.  "There's going to be a lot of problems if they try to trade me.  Well, they've already tried to trade me, but if they trade me for sure."

Cassel and Vrable to KC Baby!!! lol

Sounds like a young QB getting overly emotional. He'll learn soon enough that the players would go on fine without him; in spite of his veiled threats and self indulgence.

If Jay goes because of Mc Daniels wanting Cassel, lets just say I wouldn't want to be Josh. It would not be a good situation at all. I wasn't really happy about Shanahan but McDaniels seemed to have it together, but if this comes out that he was behind the trade but doesn't own up to it or try to get Jay back on his side. The fans will make him think he is Shanahan stuck on the Raiders side line.

If I am Detroit I am on the horn trying to obtain Jay ASAP. If I am Minnesota I am pleading with Denver...

And in two different places, Mike Shanahan and Jake Plummer are both laughing their asses off....

Cutler and Rivers should get a room.

If McDaniels think he can do this without backlash, than he truely is an Idiot, and Bowel knows the fans will riot

Like Jay said, I don't get it either. There are so few quality starting QBs in the NFL, let alone a young, rocket-armed, franchise-talent like Jay. Josh, what are you doing bro?

Tuna said:

What a freaking head case. I know he's a very talented QB, but I had no idea he was such a nutcase.

J said:

Come To Detroit Jay, we have a freak that you can throw to. Please Lions you started to go after him now finish it.

If Martin Mayhew can somehow pull this trade off for Cutler I will buy his Fathead

MMD Hilarious. LOL

Cutler has an interview on that CBS4 site. Sounds like he's gone.

Niners should snatch cutler up!

No one denies Cut's talent, but you gotta think McDaniels would rather have a smart QB with less skill than a gunslinger who forces way too many balls into traffic and carries some of the worst body language in the league. Without any inside information, I really think the best guess is that McDaniels doesn't trust Cutler's football IQ.

Jay Cutler sucks fat nasty ass anyway, I feel sorry for who ever picks him up. Might cost that coach his job( you know ,like Mike Shanahan). But then again, if they are dumb enough to trade anyone for Jay, they deserve to get fired.

CuNtler has a goofy haircut

J said:

Efe, you sound like one of those bitter "were better without him anyways fans" the broncos defense is what got Shanny fired not cutler

Efe said:

J,J,J.....Did you forget that Shanahan benched Jake the Snake 3 seasons ago for Jay Cutler? Jake lead the Broncos 7-2 and then had two bad games and just because the COWBOYS had great success with TONY ROMO, Shanahan tought he could also cash in. Well guess what, if you had not noticed, it backfired. Broncos went from loosing the AFC championship to 7-4 to CHOKE,CHOKE,CHOKE. I really think we need to start fresh. Trade Jay to Lions for 1st round, first pick over all and pick up a real QB who is ready to GROW UP !!

Kelcortal said:

Man, are people so BLIND FLORIO?

This is about MIKE SHANAHAN AS MUCH AS CUTLER.

Why didnt Tampa just give up a first for Cassell?

Or Detroit?

Cause the team that brings Cutler has a huge shot at landing Shanahan next season.

WAKE UP people.

EFE, I agree 100% on everything that you have said.

J said:

Efe, Good point. My point was I thought you were undervaluing Cutler. There is No chance in Hell I would trade the top pick for Cutler. But I would consider a trade for J.C. and the 12th pick for the top pick. But you pointed out some things i hadn't realized so, my mistake.

Big Bronco said:

j, Just think outside the box for one minute (don't think like a Die-Hard fan), and you'll realize "EFE" makes alot of sence.

J said:

Big Bronco, I see what your saying but im a lions fan. If I was a die hard fan I'd be dead by now.

Cutler carried Denver on his back throughout the season with zero help from the running game. Just stop and think for a second how easy it is for a defense to stop a team when they know that a pass is coming 95% of the time and they can drop 8 guys back into coverage. Then think of how Cutler still managed to put up 4,500+ yards passing.

NO ONE is looking at the big picture here. Cutler is a playmaker and can carry a team on his back to single handedly win football games, period. McDaniels and Xanders are the complete and total douche bag package. I mean, seriously, Matt Cassel? Sorry, but not every team has a WR like Randy Moss where you can toss the ball 70 yards downfield and hope that he catches it.

This is just like that dumbass Dan Reeves trying to get Denver to trade Elway because he thought he wasn't good enough. Great call, Dan, you fuckin retard. And McDaniels and that tub of shit Xanders are trying to make the same mistake. Good riddance if they do, because that will only bring McDaniels departure from Denver that much closer.

if this is is true it's beyond stupidity on behalf of the broncos organization. It just goes to show how some of the smartest people in the business out smart themselves. If I'm Chicago Im on the phone doing whatever I can to
See what it would take to get cutler in uniform.. Maybe tommie Harris Kyle orton and a draft pick or Chicagos first round pick and a player... Whatever they need to do..although I don't think they trade cutler.. But who knows maybe cutler demands a trade now and maybe Denver moves him if the right deal comes along

Efe said:

Frank, I do not question Jay Cutlers big play ability, the guy is gifted. As far as your comment about Denver passing 95% of the time, has it ever cross your mind that this is the only reason Jay put up monster numbers. And Brandon Marshall ain't no chump, he ain't Randy Moss, he might be better. Maybe if he had a mature QB throwing the ball to him instead of a imature QB who'll rather trade words with Philip Rivers by the sideline, Brandon would live up to his real potential. Oh yeah, last time I checked, Brandon Marshall made the probowl while Randy Moss watch it from home.

Dyla said:

So if they trade cutler that would basically make me not a broncos fan anymore especially since they have made all of those questionable off-season moves like I don't know firing a future hall of fame coach. It is just out of the box that they would try to trade our franchise QB.

Hello,
with all of John Elways Talent no one could force the pieces of the puzzle in place, and he could not win it all by himself, but with the right surrounding cast he proved to be key element to success. Jay Cutler and a great offence still need to have a defence that will not give the game away every week, I think Mike Shanahand was working on this, but the greatest players are not above injurys, and this will always cause set backs. Nothing but deph at the key postitions can prevent this, and not always a given at that.
