LIONS ADD ANOTHER FIRST-ROUND RECEIVER

The Lions have had a taste for first-round receivers.

And they've added another one.

A league source tells PFT that Bryant Johnson has agreed to terms on a three-year, $9 million deal.

Johnson was a first-round selection of the Cardinals in 2003, but he was overshadowed by 2003 second-rounder Anquan Boldin and 2004 first-rounder Larry Fitzgerald.

Johnson joined the 49ers via free agency in 2008, under a one-year deal.  He and Isaac Bruce were the starters last season.

florio must love motown, too many lions updates, lol. good signing, another tall receiver with calvin will cause matchup problems, culpepper is gonna look good with two tall targets. Now all they need is a decent tight end.

sean said:

"all they need"?
haha yeah right.

J said:

Not a bad complement to C.J. but I think that this make the chances of Satfford at number one too high for my liking.

Whuteva said:

now they need 1 more to give Pep the 3 wide set that he had success with in MN. Good luck with that, though.

another wide receiver? Is matt millen still running this team. We need O-line and defense defense defense

DG said:

hopefully this doesn't take nate washington out of the running.

standeford would make a nice #3 behind those 2....

J said:

DG,
Standeford would be the number four with the 2 johnsons and washington, but good point nonetheless

I just herd on Lions radio station 1130 WDFN the FAN that the Lions are signing a few receivers since they are going to trade Calvin Johnson and a 4th to the Jaguars for John Henderson the 8th overall pick and a pick next year

Pistonsfan70 said:

I have been listening to WDFN ALL DAY and they never said a word about trading Calvin.

NO ONE would trade Calvin!!!!

empty13 said:

the leonas need d linemn who can stuff the run. at least two big'uns. then a real mlb not these pint size guys.

a corner would be nice. then talk o line.

Tommy said:

I herd that rumor but not on WDFN, I think they said it on 97.1

CJ said:

yeah I there is a radio in st. petersburgh reporting that the jags and lions are trying to finalize a deal that involves multiple players and picks that would send johnson to jacksonville

Wolfman said:

CJ to Jax? Huge mistake. CJ is an absolute gamebreaker and the only Lion left that puts fans in the seats. Agreed they need more young depth with draft picks but CJ is worth more than that.

Bart said:

This pisses me off!!! I just herd this and I hope to god it falls through. The players we are getting is all good but loosing johnson blows

J said:

I'D BE PISSED AS ALL HELL. CALVIN IS THE BEST THING TO COME TO DETROIT SINCE BARRY. F^*K YOU LIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dreamer1955 said:

I think you clowns talking trade rumors for CJ are full of crap! If it was even remotely true it would be on all the Detroit paper web sites.

Kdwells said:

I herd DL's Henderson, heyward, OL Nawanuki, WR Northcutt and 1/8 and 2010 2nd for Calvin and a 4th this year.. huge freaking trade..

jimmy said:

To Jacksonville:
Calvin Johnson
4th rounder
Drew Stanton

To Detroit:
-1st rounder
-2nd rounder
-John Henderson
-Matt Jones
-Reggie Nelson

ALL I CANSAY IS I HOPE YOUR RIGHT DREAMER.

J said:

TO BE HONEST WITH YOU JIMMY WE WOULD NEED A LOT MORE

Challey said:

Interesting.

J said:

The obly way I see this as a possibility is that CJ asked to get out. And I wouldnt blame him.

Tim said:

This is James Harris way of saying sorry jacksonville.

Jack said:

you said you heard these things on the radio. which publications did these stations cite?

Jack said:

thot so

This is the same person making these comments...what a fool lol

Wasn't starting for the Niners at the end of the year. Didn't begin that way either. Other than that, great fact checking Florio.

Pistonsfan70 said:

Am listening to 97.1 in Detroit. He said a Jacksonville radio station reported that and it pretty much has no backbone to it.

That deal makes NO SENSE for the Lions!! Sure, we'd have 3 1st rounders and 2 2nd rounders but none of the players drafted would have the impact of Calvin! Did you see his #'s last year with 5 different qbs and CONSTANT double teams??

Ace said:

I am listening to 97.1 as well. He only said that he did not buy that it was true but it still could be. But I wouldn't be totally against it as long as we were to get big time players to fill in on both sides of the ball. An extra first round pick would leave the Lion's open to taking a guy like Maclin or Harvin in the draft and continue to get younder.

noyb said:

That would be an awesome trade for the Lions. It'd be sad t osee CJ go but that would be an epic trade.

Matt said:

I WOULD LOVE THE TRADE TO JAX!!! WE HAVE TOO MANY HOLES TO FILL!!!!!

AL said:

Please make this trade!!!!! One good Wr isn't gonna win you any games!!! As we saw last yr!!! It's a TEAM SPORT!!!

AL said:

This trade makes sense!!!! Im a Lions fan and realize you cant win with just 1 good player....be it Calvin or Barry!!!

J said:

AL, agreed, I over reacted but the biggest problem is that when the Lions get a good player they should build around him not for what they can get for him.

Mike said:

This trade will happen, The Lions will more than likely select Aaron Curry and need a big guy like John Henderson infront of him. The lions have no 4th round pick. & The Jags won't give up that much players just for CJ. More like the Lions get John Henderson the 8th Overall pick and Matt Jones, or Brian Williams + the 2010 2nd round pick. The Jags will get CJ and Stanton. I expect this to happen.

captbly said:

LMAO.

WDFN doesnt not have any local programing any more.. they fired everyone a few weeks ago and only broadcast syndicated stuff.

This is BS

GOlions said:

This trade will happen i heard it on 97.1

Aparently Jacksonville Send John Henderson+Brian Williams+Reggie Heyward+2009 1st rounder+ 2010 5th rounder

for

Calvin Johnson
Drew stanton

GOlions said:

Well it looks like the trade wont happen according to 97.1

According to sources the Jaguars couldnt offer enough but there was definitly talks between the jaguars and detriout about this trade.

JJ Jones said:

CBS Sports football writer and Jacksonville sports radio host Pete Prisco said that trade talks between the Jaguars and Lions were still ongoing. Could be the Jaguars first round pick and Henderson for Johnson and a second day pick.

JJ Jones said:

no im joking u lil boys can go f ur self now

Detroit is a dying city said:

Calvin Johnson said he wants to get out of Detroit. He is tired of driving past homeless auto workers on his way to his mansion.

He only said that he did not buy that it was true but it still could be. But I wouldn't be totally against it as long as we were to get big time players to fill in on both sides of the ball.
