Warner smart enough to stay with Cardinals

NFL_warner_250.jpgKurt Warner flirted with the 49ers, but it was clear he only had eyes for the Cardinals.  Warner agreed to a two-year, $23 million deal with Arizona Wednesday, culminating a month-long negotiating process.  (Manny Ramirez must wonder why Warner acts so quickly.)

Warner has improbably elongated his career with smarts and anticipation. And he was smart enough to envision a life away from Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin, and an offense perfectly tailored for his skill set.

In Arizona, Warner  is the leader of a Super Bowl contender.  In San Francisco, he would be a 38-year-old learning a new system for a run-first coach.  Warner has done the doormat route enough; this wasn't a tough choice after Cardinals gave him $19 million guaranteed.

Arizona can finally move forward with their off-season.  They lost defensive end Antonio Smith, but still want to get new contracts for core players like Boldin, Adrian Wilson, and Karlos Dansby.

With Warner secure, they could also look to move Matt Leinart in a trade.  Barring injury, Leinart won't be playing anytime soon.

And the Cardinals are dumb enough to give him that contract.

Home town discount? More like only offer for an overrated qb who is nothing without Fitzgerald/Boldin

I sense "edge" is a little jealous..

Warner is the best NFL quarterback to ever work at Safeway. Yippy ky yi yay. I love Bruce Willis movies. All of them.

I sense Kurt is right, but it is true a big part of Kurt's sucsess comes for Larry and Anquan being great recivers.

The only way Warner can keep it going is throwing to Fitz and Boldin this next season. So the Cards better be smart in signing Boldin for a new contract.

How quickly people turn on someone who just finished leading one of the worst teams in history to the Superbowl and came within 40 seconds of winning it! Additionally, how quickly people forget all of the success Kurt has had with the Rams, leading them to two SB's, winning one and almost winning the second. Everyone seems to think he can only be successful if he throws to the Cardinal's receivers. Regardless of what everyone thinks, Kurt is a class act, most of the NFL fans are not!

If Warner is SO overated, then why was Leinart not able to accomplish what Warner did? Leinart was the one making all the money last year while Warner and co. did all the work!

Warner is the opposite of overrated, for the majority of his career he has been underrated. There aren't many QB's I can think of who are better than him, excluding Brady. I would rather have Warner play for my team than Peyton Manning, if you look at their post season stats, Peyton's teams have sometimes managed to win in spite of his play, where as Warner's teams win solely because of his play.

remembrer Warner, hall of fame QB, set records for the Rams, always is the most under rated QB, not over rated

For all the folks claiming Warner is just a reflection of his great receiving group...

We all know lengthy PCP use destroys brain cell that are unlikely to return. If by chance they do, it takes years for them to regain logical insights on analyzing things of the obvious.

Please, wait about 10-15 years (when those cells partially re-generate), then return with a half-sensible assessment on the incredible achievements of this maligned and underrated QB who possesses one of the most accurate arms in NFL history.

Kurt should have been MVP Besides having the best throwing arm in the NFL, he has the best heart and continues to give back to his St. Louis fans yearly through various programs that he has organized for the poor. Even after leaving St. Louis, the fans here are some of his biggest supporters. Thanks Kurt!

What's all this craziness about Warner's success being mostly attributed to Fitzgerald and Bolden. Where would I have been without Jerry Rice, John Taylor, Roger Craig and Terrell Owens? Kurt is a great quarterback. It's not his responsibility to catch the ball.
