No. 32 Steelers Take ... Evander Hood

The Steelers are going to put Hood at defensive end in their 3-4 scheme and give a nice little influx of youth to an aging group. Hood can expect to spend some time chasing down kickoffs and playing sparingly in his first year. Pittsburgh maybe could have looked to address the center position here with Justin Hartwig entering the final year of his deal but, again, the bottom of the first round you get the best player you can.

The draft is the hope for teams to win a ring. Not for the team that just won one.

Outside of a few draft day missteps the Steelers seem to always get it right. I'll trust this franchise knows what it needs and can find it.

When all the talking heads bash the pick(s) let's compare hardware and see who has the most.

But really Hood was the anchor of a bad D at Mizzou, and people just liked saying "Ziggy." He got trashed at the Senior Bowl and the combine. Really he sucks.
