Another storm on horizon for McDaniels?
Currently unable to practice as he recovers from hip surgery, Marshall is also awaiting word from the NFL on a likely suspension after another arrest this off-season. Charges were quickly dropped in this case, but Commisioner Roger Goodell is still expected to view Marshall as a repeat offender. (He was suspended to start last season.)
Marshall should be happy the organization has shown so much patience with him throughout his ups and downs. Instead, he has decided to move his rehabilitation away from the team after asking Broncos coach Josh McDaniels for a salary bump. The Broncos predictably aren't willing to redo his deal at this time. And why would they?
Marshall is undoubtedly a bargain after back-to-back 100-catch seasons, but he's making decent money ($2.2 million) for a player still in his rookie contract. The Broncos' new staff smartly wants him to last one calendar year without getting arrested before handing out long-term money.
For now, the workouts are only voluntary, and Marshall isn't a "holdout" unless he skips mandatory work. (They have a minicamp on June 12.) But after McDaniels' struggles with employee relations earlier this offseason, it's worth watching what his Marshall plan is.

Two names are all you need to add to this story people -- Jay Cutler and Kyle Orton. Say them again. Jay Cutler. Kyle Orton. Two guys who are not quite equals as pure passers.
Marshall wants money now because his agent knows that without Shanahan and Cutler in town, but rather boy-blunder McDaniels and game-manager Orton, baby TO's stats will look pedestrian.
Hip surgery, new coach, new system, new QB, new RB, possible suspension. The only potential I see for Brandon Marshall in 2009 is potentially bad.
