Report: Bowlen To Aid Marshall Trade

The agent for Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall said that Marshall did request a trade during his meeting last week with Broncos owner Pat Bowlen.

And Bowlen told Marshall he would do everything in his "power to accomodate his wishes," according to agent Kennard McGuire.

Josina Anderson, a reporter for KDVR's Fox 31has blogged and tweeted this news saying that McGuire told her, "Yes, there was a meeting between Brandon and Mr. Bowlen. There was a request for a trade. Mr. Bowlen has said that ownership will do everything in its power to accomodate his wishes."

It's worth noting that McGuire and, by extension, Bowlen, used the word "ownership" as opposed to "team".

This could allow Bowlen to say that he was overruled on this football matter by the coaching staff and didn't see fit to emasculate them further in this offseason from hell.

Either way the Broncos are heading into dangerous and uncharted waters here.

Has any team ever acquiesced to the trade demands of their two best offensive players in an offseason? And what is the fallout if they do? Do more players make a run for the lifeboats? What do you do if Champ Bailey says next that he's ready to move on?

Marshall is underpaid relative to his onfield production (set to make $2.2 million this season). He is the best young receiver in the game. He is also prone to getting in trouble with the police, has a history of violence against women and doesn't really seem an ideal teammate or locker room guy.

How do you set the value on a guy like that who, given that he seems to have no qualms about being a distraction, may eventually force your hand if you don't deal him?

Somebody will take Brandon Marshall off the Broncos hands. And Denver will be able to say that he - like Jay Cutler - is somebody else's headache. But the price of having a distraction-free locker room is getting unprecedentedly high.

WHo cares! Cutler was a distraction and now Marshall is. If they don't want to be there then get rid of them!!! Denver wasn't going to the superbowl with them in the first place. Both Cutler and Marshall are cocky and full of themselves, and are you really going to tell me your all lovey dovey with Marshall with his abuse towards women, and total regard of the law? Let him walk and in time Denver will build the chemistry that they need to win a superbowl again one day. I still say Denver is going to be better than you all think this year and in the years to come. I didn't see a Superbowl coming out of Dallas with T.O. and you won't see one coming out of Buffalo with him there either. Trouble maker players are just that. Trouble!

Marshall is under contract still right!!?? Of course he won't honor it, he is pompass kid who only thinks of himself, not the fact that he is an abuser over and over again. He has been in trouble from day one and is lucky to not start the season on the suspension list AGAIN!!!! What a joke, did anyone actually think Marshall would honor his contract?? Get a life loser, Of course you would bail on Denver, just one more great decision by this loser, you can't even keep your butt out of jail or at least the police reports for 6 months, but you think you need more money!!??!! Godd riddance to bad rubbish...don't let the door hit you where god split you! You can take the kid out of the ghetto, but you can't take the ghetto out of the kid. See ya loser!

The "best young reciever in the game" !?!? Thats hilarious, everybody in their right mind can see that Darius Heyward-Bey is going to be the next great young wide reciever. Bronco's stink. Go Raiders.

It seems as if McDumbass's destruction of the Denver franchise is complete. The Broncos are getting what they (the organization not the fans) deserve. They will suck for a long time!

Douglas Hill, man your post makes me laugh so hard. DHB as the next great receiver? Nah, Al Davis is an absolute idiot. Biggest reach in the history of the draft. Wait, I take that back. The Michael Mitchell pick was the biggest reach in the draft.

Anyway, DHB has bad hands and runs poor routes. Raiders will suck the upcoming years.

Brandon is a good reciever, WHEN he wants to be- Look at his stats, yeh he makes the spetacular catvhes, but over the three years in Denver , he's dropped amore than he's caught. As a lifelong fan of the Broncos, I saty goofd ridence. I'd rather have one of the three Amigos back(Vance Johnson, Ricky Natiel and mark Jackson, evenat there age , their bette team players than Brandon Will ever be?(PS has anyone made a call to ED Mckafrey,orRod Smith, even with theirs injuries, their better that Brandon. Any how, we'll be better with Eddie Royal and company.
