The NBC lady commentator, whoever she is, should keep her personal evaluation of Venus and Serena as not really great champions (like her "obvious" favorite Martina Navratalova, which she pointed out during the broadcast). The Williams sisters earned their place and beat every one else to get to the finals. Give 'em their due and leave past champs out of the discussion. Besides the Williams sisters appear to be better businesswomen in managing that part of their careers, also. America, what a country! Happy 4th chaps!

the williams sisters are so rude when they win. they jump and yell to make the opponent feel bad. But today venus was asked why she didn't do that she said it was because she didn't want to make her sister feel bad. well what about all the people they did make feel bad? i think that is really very rude. everyone else deserves the same consideration.

My comment is on womens tennis as a whole. From Billie Jean to Venus, women have been fighting for equal pay to men. And so they should. I've long been a beliver in equal pay for equal work. However, now that women get equal prize money to men, when will they begin to do equal work? Men play best of five matches. Women continue to play best of three. Equal pay for equal work?

I think that most players who win grand slams jump or fall to the ground in celebration.  Why are the Williams' treated any differently?  When Sharapova or Ivanovic get excited no one says "you should be mindful of your oppontent". Obviously Venus wanted to celebrate in her customary way, but Serena isn't just another opponent.  It's sad that after all of these years and many grand slam wins that they are still held to a different standard than everyone else.

My family and I are sick of Mary Carillo and hate her commentary, especially regarding the Williams sisters. Her snide remarks and innuendo about their professionalism and ability are tiresome. It seemed to us that Serena didn't even want to speak with Mary during the interview after the finals, and I don't blame her. And how many titles did Mary win??

that lady commentator should be hold accountable for her comments...especially today while they showed the womans double during rain delay...she talked about how much money the williams sister where making and tht they could go out to eat tonight!!!...i'm not african american, but that comment even offended me and i hope that she will be repramanted and also apolgize to the william sisters!!!

This is my opinion. Venus and Serena are exceptional players. I can remember when finals in tennis were won by Chris Everett and Martina N. No one commented about how many times Chris and Martina won and Martina won 9 times. Every time you turned on the tv for women tennis it was Martina. S. Graf won numerous times and nothing was said about that. Venus and Serena carry themselves in a professional manner. And let's not forget how John McEnroe acted non sportsman like many times. The Williams sisters have to have other options in life b/c once you are finished you are finished. Look at how worn down Justin H. became from playing all the time and now she has to rest. Let them play their game and if you don't want to be apart of the tennis world enjoy another sport.
