About this blog
Harry Cicma tackles the hot topics in tennis, sharing his insight on the favorites, tournament news and players to watch. Harry was ranked for three years on the ATP Tour doubles circuit and played four years of NCAA Division-I tennis at Rutgers University. He now covers all sports as a TV producer/anchor on NBC in Southern New England.
It is ABSOLUTELY mind numbingly BRAINLESS what NBC did this morning.
I fail to fathom the rationale behind it. Not only did they not broadcast the marquee semifinal match between Federer and Del Potro, they did not allow anyone else the feed. It's not as if Roland Garros just sold them the feed for the first semi final.
If they did not have the time slot available on the NBC, why show anything!! Let Tennis Channel have the feed. They had done such a great job in the previous rounds.
And don't even get me started on the tape delay BS!! Sports is meant to be watched live, in this day and age of technology and internet when we can get the scores of any event in any part of the world a second after it happens.
I thought Dick Ebersol is supposed to be a sports programming genius. If this decision came out from under his management, it is plain DUMB!!
What a day to celebrate! Roger Federer won the French Open! How wonderful and meaningful to him and many more! And then you had the audacity to play the 2008 Wimbledon when Nadal beat Fed - as if to say that (in Rafa's absence) we want to remind you who would have won ! Poor taste and very bad timing! I am furious!
