About this blog
Harry Cicma tackles the hot topics in tennis, sharing his insight on the favorites, tournament news and players to watch. Harry was ranked for three years on the ATP Tour doubles circuit and played four years of NCAA Division-I tennis at Rutgers University. Nice...great event
NBC Sports and their contract with the All England Lawn and Tennis club are stupid. To not show all the men’s 1/4 final matches with an American Andy Roddick and Great Britain having each a 1/4 finalist left and not aired is absolutely ridiculous and not to show the ones they do LIVE. What is further disappointing is NOT To let either ESPN 2 or the tennis Channel airs these or matches NBC airs live. This happens at Rolland Garros too
Why can't NBC and The All England Club change this...Money
Happy for Serena to pull the win, disappointed for Dementieva for not having taken a few more chances! :( 2nd Semifinal: VERY DISAPPOINTED w/NBC for not broadcasting the 2nd match LIVE!!! This for sure will be a tradition that will NOT change for many years to come! So ever thankful for INTERNET RADIO to be able to listen to play by play on the Safina vs. V. Williams semi!
Yet another reason to not watch network tv! HBO can teach this network a lesson or few!
VERY unhappy tennis fan!

Also, it's not difficult to find live streaming tennis on the net. I won't post it here so NBC doesn't sue, even though the only reason I discovered them is due to NBC's pitiful coverage of Wimbledon and The French Open.
Once again, NBC lives up to it's potential by completely screwing up it's tennis broadcasting schedule. We have digital TV supposedly with "More channels", and yet NBC badly drops the green fuzzy ball.
Only on NBC does "10:00 am in all time zones" not mean 10am in all time zones. I tuned in this morning at 10am to watch the Men's semi's yet what do I find? The Today show with the ever self important Kathy Lee Gifford and Hooda (Or whatever her name is).
NBC, your "Coverage" is deplorable. You cut in to tennis to show taped footage of golf, bowling, track and field events etc., etc. and yet you won't even show live tennis AS IT HAPPENS.
Why bother tuning in to this incomprehensible and mysterious tennis broadcasting "Schedule" if we don't even get to see what is happening in the moment?
I live in Las Vegas where people come from all over the world to gamble. When I want to gamble, I turn on the TV to watch tennis on NBC.
Bravo NBC for pissing off all of your tennis fan base.

not happy with Live coverage, but loving the H-Cicma Blog....great analysis brother!
How bad is it that NBC is not showing the Murray/Roddick match live. Very poor show but I guess that is what we must expect these days from network television!!!
What time (eastern standard) will the women's final be played on Saturday? Will it be broadcast live and by which network?
Ted Robinson keeps saying Serena has gone the longest between Wimbledon titles. Evonne Goolagong went 9 years and had a baby in between
I just wanted to mention that the commentator for the Womans Final, Ted Robinson, repeatedly said that Serena Williams was the first woman to go six years in between winning the title. However Evonne Goolagong went nine years winning in 1971 and then again in 1980. As a fellow Australian I needed to point that out.
Ted Robinson keeps saying Serena Willimas has gone the longest between titles. Evonne Goolagong went 9 years and had a baby in between.
Shame on NBC research staff for not giving proper respect to one of the most graceful players to ever play at Wimbledon. Evonne Goolagong waited 9 years between titles. Williams sisters are awesome. Sure. Even if it was a snoozer of a final. But fawning repeatedly over a statistic that is not even right is both disrespectful and a pity.
I HOPE NBC CORRECTS THEIR ERROR BEFORE THE COVERAGE ENDS.
EVONNE GOOLAGONG HAD A 9 YEAR GAP BETWEEN TITLES (1971 TO 1980)
Here's the caption you attach to the reel that shows all of the champions at the end:
"and Serena Williams wins her third Wimbledon crown - not since Evonne Goolagong Cawley in 1980 has a player had this long a draught between singles titles"
Hi fellow Tennis fans....Thanks for posting on my blog, I just got back to the station after training with a few top pros at the Newport ATP event which is going on now....I don't deal with air times, and do my own tennis research. Thanks again for clicking on the blog...
PS- if Roddick wins on sunday, I will be proud of my men's & women's predictions =) ... lol
NBC = NOTHING BUT CONTEMPT . . .
. . . is how you treat the millions of U.S.tennis fans.
No Women's Doubles Final! No replays of any semi-final & final matches now or in the Australian & French Opens! No men's quarter finals! Live streaming blocked in the U.S.! TTC not permitted to replay any of the semis or finals! It's coverage & replays in the late afternoon & evening not even listed!
ESPN2? Forget about it! Not only does it run that intrusive tape along the bottom, it lists the results of matches we haven't yet seen! 'Live' coverage? Ha!
Last, but not least, it's obviously news to you that, even in this economy, some people still have jobs. Some of us aren't free to arrange their schedules around your elitist broadcast schedule. Some of us can't watch TV during the day. Guess what? Some of us work night & early morning shifts. Some of us work weekends. And holidays.
I know I'm not alone in refusing to watch NBC unless forced to. Thank God that is rarely the case.
I think other fans and columnists have said it many times this week. But just add me to the list of tennis fans who will never watch a tape-delayed Grand Slam tennis match on NBC or any other network when it easily could be shown live.

John McEnroe, Please keep your blatant support of Roddick to yourself! Where is your "journalistic" objectivity? Oh, I forgot, you are not a real journalist.
Let's just calm down and let the match play out!
